A status match gives you a tier in a new programme because you hold one somewhere else. A status challenge gives you the tier for a trial period: keep it by flying or staying a set amount within it. Programmes use both to win over frequent travellers from competitors.
How it works
- You send proof of your current status: a screenshot or card showing your name, tier and expiry date.
- Many matches are once in a lifetime per programme, so time it for when you will use the status most.
- Some are free, some charge a fee, and some only accept members from certain alliances or countries.
- A match usually lasts until the end of the programme year or a set number of months; read the conditions before you apply.

What is the difference between a status match and a status challenge?

Does SAS EuroBonus offer a status match?
